About Calvary Chapel Nipomo
Calvary Chapel Nipomo is a small non-denominational evangelical church that holds to the larger affiliation of Calvary Chapel. We believe in the regular gathering together of followers of Jesus Christ (Hebrews 10:25) and encourage worship through song and God's living Word found in scripture (2 Timothy 3:16).
We welcome everybody with an open heart and a willing ear. Christ taught us that He came for the ones in need and it is our earnest desire to replicate and continue that same attitude in our community. (Mark 2:17).
Visitors
You are welcome just as you are. You don't have to dress to impress and you don't have to stay away because you have too much "cleaning up" to do. All you need is an open heart and willingness to hear God's word. If you have a Bible, bring it; if not, we've got spares!
What We Believe
Jesus Christ is the foundation and cornerstone of the Church. He came to redeem mankind into the hand of God and restore relationship with God that was broken by man's sin. Jesus' sacrifice on the cross made this possible. Jesus demonstrated His great love at the cross of Calvary when He died for the sins of all. Through His death and resurrection on the third day, you may have a relationship with God. We have reason to fellowship with one another and proclaim salvation through His life, death and resurrection. (1 Corinthians 3:11, Romans 5:8-10, Ephesians 2:20)
The Bible is the inspired, infallible, authoritative, inerrant word of God and is ever relevant and applicable to mankind. Therefore, we place great emphasis upon the teaching of the Bible in our church services. We strongly encourage the studying of it and the use of it for constant guidance in our daily lives. (2 Timothy 3:16-17, Matthew 4:4, 2 Peter 1:20-21)
All praise and worship is directed to the Godhead who is worthy and thus it is important that the worship of God be inspirational. As a result, we give great place to worship though music and song in our church services. Worship is by no means limited to these means, and we make it our goal to worship Him with every aspect of our lives. (Hebrews 13:15-16, Colossians 3:16, Psalm 95:1)
Love is the greatest gift and full demonstration of the reality of Jesus Christ. It is the true basis of Christian fellowship and is greater than our differences. We continually aspire to show a Christ-like love toward all people. The great love with which God loves us should be evident in our lives through our words and actions. (John 13:34-35, 1 Corinthians 13, 1 John 4:7-8)
The Holy Spirit leading the Church is our chief goal and desire as we grow to know Christ and be conformed into His image. We want to be ambassadors of the character of Jesus and believe we may attain that by the power of the Holy Spirit. We understand this is only possible by following Christ Jesus in His word, through prayer, fellowship and submitting to the leading of God by His Spirit. (Romans 8:29, Ephesians 2:4-10, John 15:15-18)
Loving works are manifested in the life of a Christian when all of the forementioned principles are practiced. Therefore service is a necessary and natural part of the Christian's life. It is the responsibility of all believers. We encourage the whole body to use the gifts God has blessed them with for their development. This is in order to benefit the church body and testify Jesus to the people we see each day. (Ephesians 4:11-13, 1 Corinthians 12:4-7, James 2:17-18)
